About us
Same corner, same name, since 1945.
Porter Steel & Welding was founded in 1945 by Herb Porter and Jim Tregoning, Sr. We're still in our original building on the corner of Getty Street and Hovey Avenue in Muskegon. It has been expanded and renovated over the years as our customers' work has changed.
Bob Smith has run the shop since 1994 and bought it in 2004. Bob, his family and our long-time welders still work the same way: personal service and quick turnaround, whether you need one weld or a quote on a new building.
